We started producing XML-first journal production nearly 15 years ago, consistently delivering high-quality content since then. Our journey began with the STI system using an SGML front-end, followed by a transition to the Penta typesetting system to meet XML requirements. Today, our workflow is modelled around LaTeX and InDesign, tailored for journals and legislative books demanding an XML-first approach. We’ve integrated robust auto-pagination Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) into our system.
Through our XML-First workflow, our production process is remarkably efficient, eliminating the need for redundant content creation across various products. Validation and interactive features are embedded into the data from inception, ensuring swift delivery across multiple channels.
Key Features:
- Supports diverse input formats (MS Word, PDF, LaTeX, etc.)
- Automated clean-up, normalization, and content identification routines
- Utilises industry standards (CrossRef, PubMed) to validate references
- Math content managed using <mathML>
- Automated composition engine supporting InDesign and LaTeX
- Accommodates standards such as NLM, JATS, DocBook, BITS, and others
- Supports multi-lingual content
